Kula Country Farms

This little country garden and market is set right on the side of Haleakala and has fabulous views. It is just a quick stop to relax and enjoy the gardens and scenery. If you want some fresh produce or flowers, they are available as well. Just the view is worth the stop. The lady that runs the market is an artist and everywhere you look there are little country touches. In October they host a large Pumpkin Patch that everyone on Maui loves to visit to get in the mood for fall!

Kula Lodge

Kula Lodge Restaurant and the Curtis Wilson Cost Gallery is a great place to stop and enjoy the beautiful gardens and visit one of Maui's most famous artist's gallery. The view here is sensational and it will become one of you favorite places to visit on your return trips to Maui. There is a beautiful store with all kinds of Maui gifts to visit as well.

Iao Valley State Park

As you can see in the photos below Iao Valley is very scenic. Back in 1890 there was a terrible battle here and King Kamehameha I, from the island of Hawaii became the King of Hawaii when he defeated Maui in a very bloody battle. It is said that the river here ran red with the blood caused by the battle. Today it is a peaceful, beautiful place that tourists visit every day. The stream is very beautiful and attracts many. Due to a flash flood that happened last year the upper park is closed but it is still worth the visit to the Heritage Gardens.

Maui Tropical Plantation

Maui Tropical Plantation is a 60-acre working plantation producing a variety of tropical fruits and flowers. Take the narrated Tropical Tram Tour through the fields of the plantation to see sugarcane, coffee and macadamia nut crops; tropical fruits, including mangoes, guavas, rambutans and papayas; and pretty flowering plants such as vanda orchids, plumeria and bougainvillea. You’ll see a coconut-husking demonstration and have the chance to peruse the on-site Country Store for Maui-grown produce and goods. Every souvenier you could possibly want under one roof! There is a Zipline here as well.

Maui Nui Botanical Gardens

The Maui Nui Botanical Gardens (MNBG) is dedicated to the protection of Maui Nui’s rich native plants and cultural heritage. By collecting, cultivating, and distributing native and Polynesian-introduced plants MNBG provides people with a gathering place to see and understand the important relationship these plants have to our economic, social, and cultural livelihoods.
The mission of the Maui Nui Botanical Gardens is to foster appreciation and understanding of Maui Nui’s plants and their role in Hawaiian cultural expression by providing a gathering place for discovery, education, and conservation. This is a very important stop for visitors that would enjoy seeing plants that are only found in Hawaii. It is about 5 minutes from the Kahului Docks where the cruise ships come in.
